How to Fish It

• Use a slow, steady retrieve to activate the wide tail-kick and subtle body roll - perfect for cold water or neutral fish.

• For more aggressive action, use a jerk–pause–jerk routine; the Peto glides forward and slowly sinks on the pause, often triggering the strike.

• Ideal for working over weedbeds, along drop-offs, and slowly tracing shallow bays holding winter or post-spawn pike.

• In deeper water, let it sink for a few seconds before beginning your retrieve to reach the strike zone.

Recommended Setup / Rigging

(The Peto is a hardbait, so “rigging” refers to tackle choice and how to run the lure.)

• Rod:
Medium-heavy to heavy casting rod with a slightly softer tip for smooth tail action.

• Leader:
40–60 lb fluorocarbon or wire leader to prevent bite-offs and maintain proper action.

• Retrieve Styles:

  • Slow Roll: Wide, lazy tail swing - excellent for cold water.

  • Jerk & Pause: Short downward jerks followed by pauses; most takes come on the fall.

  • Speed Up / Slow Down: Switching retrieve speeds mid-cast often triggers following pike.

• Hooks:
Comes pre-rigged with VMC Coastal Black trebles - no upgrade required unless fishing heavy snags.
