XESTA Black Star Extra Tuned S69LX-S Deep Range Controler 0.6-12g

The XESTA Black Star Extra Tuned S69LX-S is a premium Japanese light game spinning rod designed for anglers who demand exceptional sensitivity, precise lure control and impressive fighting power from a lightweight setup. Built using advanced Torayca® T1100G, M40X and M46X carbon fibres, its next-generation blank combines a highly responsive solid tip with the strength needed to handle larger fish.

At 6'9" (2.06m), with a versatile 0.6–12g casting range, the S69LX-S is particularly well suited to UK freshwater lure fishing for perch, chub and light zander, as well as saltwater LRF applications. Its short, approximately 15cm solid tip provides direct feedback from the lure, helping anglers detect subtle bites, bottom contact and changes in current.

Originally developed for technical Japanese horse mackerel fishing in deeper water and strong currents, the S69LX-S offers excellent performance with heavier finesse jigheads and controlled soft plastic presentations. The powerful belly section provides additional lifting strength and fish control, making this an outstanding choice for anglers who want finesse sensitivity without sacrificing backbone.

Best Techniques

Perch Fishing: An excellent choice for technical perch fishing with small soft plastics, jigheads, Ned rigs and other finesse presentations. The short solid tip provides outstanding feedback when working lures along the bottom, while the powerful blank offers additional control when larger perch are hooked.

Chub Fishing: The 6'9" length makes the S69LX-S particularly useful for accurate casting around river structure, overhanging trees and current seams. Suitable for small soft plastics, minnows and lightweight hard lures within its casting range.

Light Zander Fishing: Well suited to finesse zander fishing with soft plastics and jigheads, especially in canals, rivers and deeper stillwaters. The sensitive solid tip helps detect delicate bites, while the responsive blank provides the power needed for controlled hooksets.

Heavy Finesse Jigging: Originally designed to handle heavier light-game jigheads, the S69LX-S excels when working soft plastics in deeper water or stronger currents. Its short solid tip maintains direct contact with the lure, allowing precise lifts, controlled falls and subtle movements.

Light Rock Fishing: Equally capable in saltwater, the rod is suitable for targeting wrasse, pollock, horse mackerel and other coastal species around harbour walls, breakwaters and rocky shorelines.

Bottom-Contact Fishing: The highly sensitive tip makes it particularly effective for detecting changes in bottom composition, subtle lure movement and cautious bites when fishing lightweight rigs.
