XESTA Black Star S63UL-S Urban Caunter 0.2-5g

The XESTA Black Star S63UL-S Urban Counter is a highly sensitive Japanese ultralight spinning rod designed for technical finesse fishing with the smallest lures. Featuring an exceptionally fine 30-tonne solid carbon tip and a 0.2–5g casting range, it offers outstanding control and bite detection when fishing micro jigheads, small soft plastics and other lightweight presentations.

At 6'3" (1.91m), the Urban Counter is particularly well suited to short and medium-range fishing, making it an excellent choice for UK perch, chub and trout anglers. Its moderate stiffness provides the control needed for fishing light rigs in flowing water and slightly deeper areas, while the variable-taper blank offers progressive power when fighting larger fish.

Originally developed for Japanese Ajing and Mebaring techniques, this versatile rod is equally at home on UK canals, rivers, lakes and coastal venues. It is an excellent option for anglers who enjoy delicate lure presentations without sacrificing the strength needed to handle unexpected catches.

Best Techniques

Perch Fishing: Ideal for presenting micro soft plastics, small jigheads and finesse rigs in canals, rivers and stillwaters. The highly sensitive solid tip helps detect delicate perch bites and maintain contact with lightweight lures.

Chub Fishing: Well suited to targeting chub with small soft plastics and micro hard lures, particularly in smaller rivers and confined fishing areas where accurate casting is essential.

Trout Fishing: An excellent option for ultralight trout fishing with small spoons, micro minnows and lightweight soft plastics. The progressive blank helps cushion the movements of fish when using fine lines and small hooks.

Micro Jigging: The fine 30t solid tip allows precise control of extremely lightweight jigheads, making it particularly effective for subtle lifts, slow retrieves and controlled falling presentations.
