Rapala Super Shadow Rap Glide Swimbait Lure

Rapala Super Shadow Rap Glide – Adaptive Jointed Swimbait for Pike

• Change tungsten weights (5 g for 11 cm, 10 g for 16 cm) to scan different depth layers

• Includes a spare tail so you can switch between natural and aggressive colour styles

• Comes fitted with swivelling VMC trebles for better landing ratios and reduced leverage during the fight

• Heavy-duty split rings and hardware for trophy pike

• Sinking model – ideal for controlled depth fishing

• Additional SDS weights (5 / 7.5 / 10 / 15 g) sold separately

How to Fish It

• Use a slow, steady retrieve to create the wide, natural S-curve that pike find irresistible.

• Add occasional twitches of the rod tip to make the lure dart unpredictably—perfect for triggering followers.

• Let it sink to the required depth before starting the retrieve; the SDS system lets you fine-tune this with additional weight.

• Great for searching large areas, working along weedlines, drop-offs, and shallow bays holding big pike.

• For cold water or neutral fish, fish it slow and steady with long pauses to let the glider sink naturally.

Recommended Setup / Rigging

(Glidebaits aren’t “rigged” like soft lures, so here we focus on setup and weighting.)

• SDS Weight Selection:

  • 5 g / 7.5 g → Shallow water, slow sink, ideal for 1–2 m depth.

  • 10 g → Mid-depths, faster sink, perfect for working along deeper edges.

  • 15 g → Fast sink for deeper lakes, rivers, or windy days when control is needed.

• Rod Choice:
Medium-heavy to heavy pike rod with a soft enough tip for smooth glides.

• Leader:
40–60 lb fluorocarbon or wire leader to prevent bite-offs.

• Retrieve Styles:

  • Steady Glide Retrieve → Wide S-pattern, natural hunt.

  • Twitch & Pause → Short, erratic turns for reaction strikes.

  • Sink & Slide → Let it drop between glides to cover multiple depth layers
